No, people don't die from lack of oxygen when on fire. That's when people are trapped in a burning building and the smoke kills them. Mostly, you die from shock. If the fire is all over the body, the pain is so great that your body goes in to shock, then dies. Occasionally, victims survive long enough to feel their eyelids, throat, and inner cavities burn, or their eyes turn to jelly--but rarely. Very rarely. It doesn't smell like roasting meat, either. It smells more like burning hair.
