  • My dad sure ain't one of 'em... He is in his sixties and can drive even faster than me and keep a car on the edge. I pick up fast driving from him.

One time we even raced to our house in the mountains... My mom was at the house, waiting for us. I was being my usual self flooring the E420 from a standstill, spinning wheels, sliding through a few corners I know very well and my dad called me, he was driving behind me.

Told me "Are you gonna drive like an adult, or play around like a kid... Let's see if you got what it takes to keep up with your old man"
I'm a pretty fast driver, I usually drive 140-150kmh on country roads in Bulgaria and rarely fall under 180 on the highway.
We picked a stretch without much traffic and decided to have a little friendly race... Me in my souped up, 400hp, 950Nm, twin-turbo V8 beast of a car with Pirelli P-zero sport tires and him in his 2018, bone-stock 190hp VW Tiguan.
On some straights I overtook him with ease, but in the corners, he'd destroy me. Floor it, overtake me before a corner and hold that VW at the edge.

He beat me! Later when we arrived at the house, he told me I'm in charge of keeping his beer glass full tonight for being a smartass and losing.
I told him something wasn't right with the MAF sensor on my car and that's why I lost. But in reality, I lost cause my dad can keep a car on the edge, he's still got it and he isn't a showoff XD

This summer tho, we agreed to another showdown. This time on a track day, in the same car... my E420.

So not all old people drive in first gear forever... Some drive in 6th and 7th a lot XD

But in general most old people drive slower... Slower reflexes, bad eyesight, a lot on their minds. If only slow drivers in general stuck to the right lane and left those of us who drive faster to overtake in peace, there'd be no accidents.

I mean do you know what it's like to blast down the Autobahn at 260kmh and have an old lady in a Corsa pop out from behind a truck driving at 82kmh... It's a scary experience and a true test for your reflexes and car!
