  • There's racism on both sides! I'm not sure how a dinner discussion would go down, in these modern days, you might find them censoring their beliefs, especially seeing as they are casually racist. I have a feeling that her side could end up being more open with their beliefs. I am not being racist here, this comes from experience. The worse case scenario is that both sides end up agreeing against the marriage. My parents went through some issues from being a mixed race couple. I remember my mother claiming that she had had issues with my father's side, but she never explicitly told me what those were. She didn't handle the situation well.

    The more I think about it, the more I don't think putting them in a room to discuss is right. You can't really force someone to change their views if you don't want to. Be glad that your dad is supportive. The others may need some time to come around to the idea, or they may never. Don't waste your breath from holding it. Don't let them prevent you from getting married.
