Im not trying to change your opinion at all I am just assuming you are younger and I want to let you know you shouldnt panic about the world ending. Thats what they want.
I have 2 problems with what you said.
1st: they claim that we are destroying the earth and their solution is to severely hinder the US economy to ward off something that they have no idea of its time frame. Im all for clean energy because whether its gonna kill us all or not I dont like pollution. But right now we need cheap energy for our economy. Clean energy will come. Dont make oil and coal more expensive now because its not here yet.
2: with them they claim everytime something out of the ordinary with the weather happens that its because of man made emotion. But the climate also changes naturally. Our records of weather do not go back far. We have only kept records of temperatures in the US since 1865. Theres recorded periods of the world like in the 1500s where it was a extremely hot 100 years and then it cooled off again. Climate changes anyway. The earth rotates on its axis.
Maybe all the predictions you stated were wrong, especially the ones that don't even make sense. But you don't want to open your eyes to the current statistics about hurricanes, droughts, and winter weather like in Texas last year. Or the current rate of glacier melting , all of these things have some or a lot of data collected about them. I can see the pattern.
You would have to compare that data back for thousands of years to see a trend. We dont have records of these things going back very long. Especially hurricanes and droughts and such. Climate trends go up and down. So its hard to predict whats gonna happen which is why they can never predict it. But we also do know we have had several ice ages and that was because climate change. That happened without pollution.
So remember the important part is are we speeding it up and if we are how much. We simply dont know.
We do know that the ice is melting faster because of people. This is a fact. So when this happens it has a big impact on the world as a whole. This is a fact. Please research this so you will know what I'm talking about.
Not caring about climate change

I know the climate changes naturally, but it is changing at a very fast pace now. And I can see that, I don't wear rose colored glasses.
