Not capable of joy

Is it normal not to feel any kind of joy? Its been almost a year since my relationship ended. I haven't been able to truly enjoy anything that i do. I use to love playing basketball, hanging out friends, playing video games and watching movies. I no longer find joy in any of those things. All of my time is spent either in the house or at my job.No matter what i do i still think of her. Will i ever recover?

Is It Normal?

  • i am in the exact same position as you are, though it's complicated cause i am a really good friend with her still liking her, at least i get happy of being with her but then when i am not with her i get depressed as hell.

  • Do look into cognitive therapy as you pursue an assessment for depression. It is a researched intervention & helpful whether you are diagnosed depressed or not.

  • It is anhedonia, a symptom of a depressive episode that means you no longer find pleasure in activities you used to enjoy. This can be triggered by a tragedy in your life, as you've stated, your breakup seems to be the trigger. Usually depressive episodes last anywhere from six to nine months. You say you've been this way for over a year. You should go see a psychologist who can properly diagnose you and prescribe some medication.
