Six years...I see a bad fortune inside this cookie. I'm not saying it's a bad idea it's just a bad idea for the type of relationship you two have. I can't say I can tell you it's normal or not because I know nothing about your relationship with her, but if she friend zoned you and she has shown no interest in you as more than that since then then it may very well be abnormal.
I think you have the wrong idea. You don't want to "shock" the friend zone out of her. It's more than likely going to have the opposite effect.
