  • Yeah but what state? The AoC is 14-18 depending.

    • Texas, where the AoC is 17, sadly.

I wouldn't be torn up about it if the relationship had happened in Oklahoma or a different state because then it wouldn't have been statutory rape and I wouldn't be a child rapist. It's weird to think that the location makes such a huge difference to the evil of an act, but it does.

      • Did her parents know and give consent?

        • Yep - which is partly why I feel it might be a bad idea to turn myself against my ex's wishes as they'd potentially also be held legally responsible and I imagine she'd be quite upset / pissed off about this.

          • So if the girl and the parents didn't mind and nobody is making a fuss then what is the issue? The statute of limitations may be up by now. They have to press charges but aren't going to. I should have stuck with my first impression.

            • The issue is simply that I feel really consumed by daily guilt over the fact that I committed statutory rape. Since no-one is going to press charges, I don't know how I can stop beating myself up about it.

          • OK now I know this is bullshit!

Her parents "knew and gave consent"!!!

"excuse me Mr & Mrs Smith could I please fuck your daughter"

"Don't see why no, you kids have fun"

            • I mean, they knew we were dating and we were allowed to sleep in the same bedroom.
