Normal i'm freaking out over what i just said to my mum?

My mum said you'd really like the guy I work with too bad he's not older than you. So I said why does he have to be older it's not 1950 it's 2019...

She said well he's young he's only 25 you're 27. I got annoyed and said it's 2019 id date a younger man..its really not a big deal especially when he's a milennial and so am i..

Was that too stupid? My anxiety is making me over think it

Is it normal to freak out over that lol

It's really not a big deal, your mum just has some weird ideas. Most people wouldn't bat an eyelid at a 2 year age gap.

  • I’ve never dated anyone older than me they’ve always been like a year younger because I stayed back and was always older then the rest my grade. My boyfriend now also stayed back and he's only a few weeks younger. I’ve never thought what I do was weird and I don’t see how that would be weird to begin with unless it was a big age difference and 2 years isn’t much of a difference at all.

I think your mom's ideas about dating are pretty stupid. No offense, but damn, that is some stupid ass backward thinking. Two years is nothing! Besides, why would a guy have to be older than you?

Don't worry about it too much. You both said what you felt and it's over now. There's really nothing wrong with dating someone two years younger.

That's so stupid. My boyfriend is 2 years younger than me. I barely think about it. We're near enough in age that I can refer to other people as "about our age".

We were about 26 and 28 when we got together and have the same level of maturity. I think that's the biggest thing - when people aren't the same level in terms of maturity, it's probably not a good idea.
