Normal i don't believe in anxiety disorders i think it's all made up?

Like general anxiety or OCD. Panic issues etc all made up just to excuse lazy weird people. Just because they are too afraid to do things or have to wash their hands over and over for no reason is fake it's just an excuse maybe they wash their hands or count to 20 before turning off the tv because they are just bored or a little odd. Maybe they get off on faking odd ball behavior.

Normal I think this?

    I don't think you're real. I think you're made up.

Nope, panic and anxiety is real. You just lack empathy regarding these conditions, because you choose to remain ignorant.

I get it, you find these people and their problems to be annoying and a pain in the ass so you prefer to live in denial and just call them lazy or whatever. I have a sister who is very OCD, she is obsessed with germs, and is a neat freak. It's very annoying and a pain in the ass, I wish it wasn't real, but unfortunately it is very real.

It might not be empathy he might just not fully understand what it's like. I always took them pretty lightly myself until I started having them. First time I had a full blown panic attack I thought I was having a heart attack. I had to toss the stuff I had in my hands in the store down and get out.

Until you either see someone or know someone that has anxiety or have it yourself I don't think people really understand what it's like, so they don't have the basic ideas of what it is that they need to empathize with.

I've had anxiety and depression for so long that I can't remember what it's like to not be afflicted.

Sigh. I know this anxiety/depression stuff seriously affects people's lives. But, my compulsion to be a wise ass never fails to cheer me up. Your wise ass style has anti-depression characteristics to it. So, the sun must shine for you sometimes. Doesn't it?

its not so much that it never shines, but when it does, and you feel happy, it never lasts that long (atleast for me) but you feel happy and totally different than normal. then when you go back to normal you question whether thats how most people are usually, or if you just were really happy for that period of time. the contrast between the way the world seems emphasises how different the world is through the lense of depresion/anxiety, to the point where you dont even know how much of it is becuase of the illness, and how much of it is normal. because of that you really dont know what is normal. that was probably a very bad and confusing explanation. srry

Well, you make the point that perception of the world is the main symptom.

Someone would have to be mentally ill to fake the need to count to 20 every time they turn off the TV.

You think this because there are, unfortunately, way too many people who pull out "anxiety!" as a crutch. Some people do make it up

However, some people really do have it. Both can be true at once. Let's not have dumbed down binary thinking here.

No it's not normal. These things are very real.

I don't suffer myself but know that people go can go through hell if they do have anxiety, some even commit suicide. I do think there's a trend for some illnesses to be over-diagnosed, i.e. bratty kids being diagnosed with ADHD or autism, or celebrities saying they are bipolar or have a sex addiction when they get into trouble.

I agree. Over-diagnosis tends to devalue people.

  • That level of ignorance can't be considered normal, especially not in these times.

  • No, I don't think it is normal to be a self-centered and ignorat asshole, even if there are many of you out there.

Yeah, it’s all fake and a huge joke.....

Until you suddenly find yourself late for work, with bloody hands and realize you have been washing them for an hour.

It’s ALL EXCUSES... until it’s happening to you for real, right? I hate to break it to you, but you just exposed your emotional age to everyone that understands that the universe is bigger than our own concerns.

It is very real. I have anxiety and have to wash my hands multiple times and still don't feel right. Sometimes I have to pick things up and place them multiple times until it just feels like it's in the right place. I have social anxiety too. Sometimes I feel like everyone is staring at me and everyone hates me even if nothing out of the ordinary is happening. I have anxiety attacks at least once a week out of nowhere. You can't make that up.

anxiety and ocd are real, and i think its ignorant to think people make it up. i have panic attacks everyday, i can control them, i cant stop having them, and i dont pretend to have one. its awful and i dont know why or how anyone would fake having them.

Pretty freaking real. My heart rate and blood pressure climb so high during the attacks that it messed up my eyes and I started puking blood. My bp tends to be pretty good, but it almost doubles when I get a panic attack. Medical proof, man.

    bp can reach over 200/120
    Heart rate around 140

it is normal to think that, especialy considering the over-diagnosing people devalues those who actualy suffer, however it is not true. many people think that so its normal. its just not true

Peoples emotions are chemical releases in the brain. As any part of the body can malfunction, including the brain. If the brain has an issue of course people's mental state will be affected it's simply logical.
