No sodomy does it sound like a no gay law or no child law?

I recently got in an discussion. It was about Sodomy. I was saying NO SODOMY laws are stupid. However the other person told me Sodomy laws are meant to stop adults from molesting children. However I thought sodomy was just sex in a butt. Which would include all gay men acts between each other adult or not. So who exactly are these laws suppose to target?

Its to stop perverts 15
Its to stop gays 35
Other 20

Although most associated with buttsex, legal definitions of "sodomy" can include basically any sex act other than vaginal intercourse. So for instance oral sex can be "sodomy" too. Neither the participants' sex nor age typically enters into it.

So I guess technically you could say "Its to stop perverts", but only with the understanding that "perverts" means anyone having sex in ways that major prudes consider gross, not child molesters.

You're all stupid, In the old days sodomy meant fucking someone in the ass and is still does. Male or female, fucking them in the ass used to be illegal now it is not. I like it personally.

    • This is the point I was making but I was told I was wrong for not believing in sodomy laws since that means I condone pedophilia. So I was wondering if maybe it did change its meaning or something.

Were I come from there isn't such a thing like a law against sodomy. Otherwise they could put in prison all couples and gay and many curious straights.
There is a strong law against pedophilia and that's it
Laws against sodomy are nothing but extremely stupid coz every couple does it and gay people does it.
If there is straight couples not doing it I advise those women to do it. What men can't get at home they go out to look for.
As long as humans are humans all those things will exist coz its human.
Only churches go all the time against everything human in the name of what they consider pervert.
Nothing is pervert as long as there is consent from both.

    • Well people should not be forced into sexual activities since they don't want to. If someone is not into S&M randomly tying them to a chair is not going to be fun to them. You are just going to terrorize them. Saying "I want buttsex or I am leaving you" shows you dont really love the person.

If you really love someone you'll do most of it or all of it. There are few or no limits when you are really in love.
Obviously people is entitled to have this or that limit but like any other thing in life, any other, one as to face consequences of their limits. Sex limits is just another one like any other. Why should be different? Sex is part of daily life of all humans. Unless by option you decide to be cast for all your life like priests and even so its a interesting discussion.
Very few couples this days in the civilized world do get married without having slept together before, than they know what they are facing. If they don't at least they should talk openly about their sexual preferences before. They will be having sex all the time than better talk about before than regret latter.
Limits between couples are very good to increase prostitution. What you don't get at home you will be looking for outside.
In the end limits depend on the way you were brought up. Prejudice and religiously. All culture matters and fears some can't face.
Life can be much easier, why do it complicated!!!
I'm glad I was brought up in a open minded society. That's for sure.

        • So you only want your partner for sex than? and believe in forcing someone into sexual activity they don't want even if they say no? You don't sound like a very loyal partner. I feel sorry for whoever it is you date. since its obvious you will never care about anyone else besides your self. This type of selfishness does not make a good relationship

I think the working use of sodomy is forced anal penetration. Forced being key. I may be wrong

It does get used that was sometimes. For instance I know of a fairly liberal US state that still has a "sodomy" law on the books, but it's essentially just a copy-paste of the rape law with a couple of anatomical word substitutions.

I kind of think they are a good Idea, sodomy is something you should only do with a partner you have a mutual respect and love with, so you can do that in private, if your doing it for money or another reason you could get busted for it which is fair enough.

    • Prostitution is not sodomy the charge is prostitution and prostitution is legal in some places. Also men and women can sell themselves out for money. So its saying male prostitutes are illegal but women prostitutes are ok.

What I mean is anal sex and oral sex can be dangerous in terms of hygiene and safety. If practised by consenting partners it reduces risk, when done in the sex injury it's more high risk.

        • You ignore the fact you can have regular sex with a female. Meaning that gay men cant have sex according to this law. So it would only apply to man on man not female on man. So you agree we should have female prostitutes but not male prostitutes? Sounds a bit sexist.

Your putting words into my mouth a little bit.

Hookers male/female have to play it safe, I never said gay men can't have sex but when it's done in the sex industry anal sex is dangerous.

Men and woman in the sex industry have been anally raped and felt unable to report because they were paid. I just think a law 'like' this could help to keep people a little safer.

            • There is not only female hookers. If you are going to say this is a law meant to stop prostitutes why was frontal penetration not included? Also if your not ok with Anal and oral penetration you must be perfectly fine with frontal unwanted penetration than. Rape is rape. Which hole they entered should not matter.

The term Sodomy in the old days could be any non-procreative sexual activity (Other intentions other to reproduce) - strange enough this excluded masturbation because it basically only applied when two parties are involved.

I won't answer that. You only understand what you want to and that's it.
    Have a nice time.

      I agree with you Mr-Myrtos.

Relationships are all about give and take and we should be trying to constantly create the most harmonious situation for both people. I'm not into S&M but my partner is, so I try to go along with it as much as I can and excite him with toys, language etc. That whole area made me uncomfortable at first, but once you make the act about 'doing something for the other person' rather than focusing on how much you don't like it or shouldn't be 'forced' to do it, you might find that you derive some enjoyment from making your partner happy.

There are sexual kinks I like which my partner also has little interest in yet tries to make exciting for me anyway. That's how it should be!

No, sex is not the most important aspect of a relationship (I'm not even a very sexual person), but it is part of it and like everything in a love life such as housework or shopping, there should be an equal effort/contribution from both parties. Same goes for hobbies, music and TV: you may not like visiting art galleries or listening to Tori Amos, but you let your partner enjoy those things because you probably expect the same respect in return for your interests.
