Listening, and conveying to the speaker that they are actually being heard, is a skill and conveys respect & value. People feel quite rejected and devalued when they are not heard, as you say. So try to be a listener & encourage that in others.
On the other hand, if you are difficult to follow, it doesn't make it easy to listen. For example, why would you jump from not being listened to, to getting your hair died, and then back? One might get the impression that you are blurting out whatever pops into your head. Stay on topic & respect your audience.
