A little bit; I gotta read the book, take three pages of notes on it, and read parts of the bible because all these classic novels allude to it. All before August 13th with vacations and mental barriers in the way.
I think you should watch both of the movies on the book as well as read the the Cliff Notes, but definitely read the book. I think the book will make more sense to you if you read the cliff notes, and watch the movies as well. If you have the Audible app you can listen to the book as well.
The more you put off doing it, and concentrate on how you don't like it, the worse it will be, and the harder it will be to read the book.
Try not a get lost in negative talk in your head, and resentment you may have about the assignment.

After you watch the movie, try reading a study guide for the book. Study guides are not as mind numbing as bad literature. Here are a couple of links:
