New years not a big deal

I don't find New years eve or New years day a big deal anymore, is that normal?

It's just a new year. People who make it a big deal are the same who are impressed every damn year by fireworks.

There are alot of people though who still go out and drink, celebrate, and enjoy the fireworks bringing in the new year, but that's just because they are already out drunk and partying in the same way they drink and party any other weekend of the year. Just it being New Years on its own though I'm sure is not a big deal to them.

I completely agree. I can't stand enforced fun where you're made to feel miserable if you can't ho ho ho along with the rest. I love ordinary days when you just do something spontaneous. It's the whole year that matters, not just that one day. Plenty of skint, fat and hungover people around at the moment. Have a good 2018 with lots of great days out.

Wish i could just live my own daily life instead of having school telling me what to study in my life :/ .

  • That's because it really isn't a big deal. It's just another day. The celebration is not about the day itself, but just a symbol of the entire year that has passed, and our own life experiences during this year.

People celebrate, because they see the new year as a new beginning and a fresh start; people see the new year as a departure from the failures and tragedies of the past year.

      • Not everyone in this world had tragedies in 2017. Many people celebrate the successes particularly. Why do you feel the urgent, frustrated need to correct everyone around you when it's not really the case? Your comment comes as a completion or alternative, not to show me how wrong I am.

People who celebrate New Years like once in a lifetime thing are just like idiots who get excited over a new propaganda movie/a kids movie, even if they're adults.

i dont watch tv. i phased it out very slowly till it was just the fake news , then it was record the fake news and skip the programming , then on day i decided i would watch news ever again , so now TV is just something i use to monitor tornado weather. i had no alcohol to drink i cook with beer and wine and always have it handy. new years mean not a god damn fucking thing to me , christmas even less.
