  • Yes, normal in that it is common. I am writing a reply similar to another reply I sent to someone else so bear with me if you read it another place too. I have had troubles with eye contact too. 2 things that worked for me are Quantum Neurology and Cranial adjustments (painless but relaxing).
What the deal was with me was my eyes weren't tracking together, or in sync with one another. Made it difficult trying to talk to someone and have eye contact. A super easy
exercise you can do on your own is to get one of those straws with loops in them. A crazy straw. Fill up an 8 ounce glass of water.
Put the straw in center of lips, close eyes (important) and sip and swallow the water. Do with regular rythym if you can. For some odd reason this helps the eyes to start to track together, and gets both sides of brain to work together. This simple elementary procedure is used by the HANDLE institute for people with eye contact issues etc. Used even on ADHD, dyslexia, autism etc. The reason for a crazy straw is it is a bit harder to suck the water up it. Creates the same eye movements etc of a nursing babe. Just make sure your eyes are closed doing it. Do at least once a day.
    Hope this helps. Hugs.

  • Xanax, Klonopin, Valium, or Tizanadine would work well too. Sorry, wreckd; not trying to "trump" your medications, but these are sedatives/tranquilizers/anxiety medications. The ones you listed above are MORE typically prescribed when Depression is also a factor. this may not be the case. Not dogging you!!!

Okay all that aside: What I really wanted to comment on was this: Please seek medical advise from your Doctor as soon as possible. Talk Therapy and Medication would be of great benefit to you!

  • Prozac, lexapro, cymbalta. Most likely, the doctor will prescribe you one of these. Cymbalta gave me headaches, Lexapro made me dizzy. Prozac was awesome. Everyone's different.

  • I think it's kinda normal. My best friend can never look people in the eyes she just does not like to do it. What she does though is looks above them, so they think she looking them in the eyes.

  • Sounds like Social Anxiety Disorder. If it is ruining your life, try to pluck up the courage to speak to a doctor. It is very treatable with therapy. There are also drugs available and self help books.
