I'm sorry for your loss. I remember when I lost my dog Blackie a few years back. I cried for a bit and I still mourn her from time to time. We got her when she was two in the summer of 1998. She was 17 years old when she died. I may not have her anymore, but I have a lot of good memories.

Sorry for your loss. My cat passed away in 2015 and I remember how painful it was. Everyone is different so you have to find your own way to come to terms with your loss and feel at peace. For me, it was setting up a little memorial spot for him in our house. It brought us closure and we were able to start talking about the good times we had with him. Try focusing on the happy moments. You loved your cat and gave him a good life. Take comfort in knowing that you provided him with a loving home. Time does heal wounds so it might feel like you're dying inside now but hang in there and you will feel better eventually.

I have lost 3 dogs over the years and cried like a baby over each one. I still feel sad about it but remember the great joys they brought me. When I take walks with my current dog we pass by where they are buried and remember them fondly.

My rabbit passed away a year ago due to old age and the heart not functioning well... I was extremely devastated at first, but you're crying already proved you really loved and took care of your cat... And effort is always appreciated. I accepted my rabbit's death by thinking it's lived a good life beside me. So cheer up knowing you really did care for your cat

Lost as in died or ran away and hasn't returned since?
I always feel terribly anxious when my cat returns late and would be devastated if he died.
