Naming my rifle

I'm an outdoors enthusiasts. Haven't gone hunting, but I'm going to soon enough.

I have a rifle all set up and ready to go, the gun itself is a hand me down, from my father, and has never been fired... It has a lot of sentimental value.

is it normal for guys to name their guns?

    Not sure what I want to call it... Was thinking something Greek or Old Norse... Maybe something meaning "great hunter" , "plentiful bounty", "meat sacrificer".... something along those lines...
