I don't know how it works for men but since I'm a girl I can tell how it works for us. Since most of us we are constantly wearing pants thoughout the day (specially jeans) the fabric don't actually let out vaginas "breathe" which is something pretty necessary. When a girl sleeps naked her private area is ventilated and it's pretty helpful.
Overly using jeans (other fabrics too but jeans mostly) can cause a kind of candidiasis which increases vaginal discharge.
