My uncle is unalive and it's making me really sad

He died in a fight with a man who was drunk. My uncle was at a bar but wasn't drunk he was just in the wrong place and the man stabbed him.

This happened months ago and it makes me queezy that my uncle was unalived that way. How do you overcome it is it normal for it to effect you so long

I suggest that you find a counselor to work with. Many long term ministers and other religious leaders have enough counseling training and experience to assist you with this issue (and don't charge).

Grief from unexpected death is common, and know that virtually all people do learn how to deal with it and move on with life.

I believe that you will as well...

That's terrible, and I want to say that I'm truly sorry for your loss! I hope you can get some grief counseling to help you in this difficult time. A lot of churches have bereavement groups, and it can be of great help.

I also want to say that I hope that the piece of human garbage who shot your uncle was arrested, and I sincerely hope that he will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I have always firmly believed that being intoxicated is NEVER an excuse for criminal behavior, especially murder. I sincerely wish you, and your family all the best in this difficult time!

Only time heals those wounds. It'll never go away all the way. But eventually you'll be able to not think about it as much. My way of coping is just not thinking about it. Thinking about it won't do any good.

    • Not thinking about it is how defense mechanisms form. OP needs to find closure

        • That's derailing from becoming obsessed with his death

There's a middle ground that should be walked, blocking it out so it escapes in unexpected ways and thinking about it to the point you become temporarily insane are the two extremes you'd want to avoid
