Whatever your view on use of methods called regression for the purpose "recovering" memories, I would opine that it's unfair to make that statement of your conclusion without more information about this specific therapist's rationale or goals. I use the quotes partly to acknowledge your viewpoint as leaving them out would make it seem as though I was trying to make a stronger statement in favor of this practice when in fact I don't have a strong opinion at this point either way and haven't done the research to justify making an evaluation for myself. It kind of sounds to me like determining symptom origins are not an issue here and that the idea is to do this as a way to aid in pushing for resolution of emotional or cognitive patterns tied to an earlier developmental state. Personally, I don't see any reason this would be as problematic or uncertain as the other scenario.
