You are living in a dream world if you think you won't need math in life. Just counting your change after a purchase, or figuring out which product is a better value; that's all math. Want to buy a car? How are you going to be able tell if you can afford the payments and what the interest is, without math. MPG on your car, taxes on your home, miles driven or length of your commute to work. It's ALL math. No, you NEED math and therefor you NEED to get over your problem with math. Never mind what that stupid teacher said; YOU NEED TO LEARN MATH.
That's all arithmetic, maybe some basic pre-algebra concepts. OP probably won't need the level of math in the class he is taking. Plus I'm a liberal arts major and the math class I need to graduate is all super basic stuff; it's not even remedial math or anything, just what most people who aren't going to be teachers or engineers are gonna take. Also, most people don't even retain what they learned in their high school geometry class because they almost never have to use it.
I honestly believe that when you are my age, you'll look back surprised at how much algebra, geometry and even trig you used. I hear your argument all the time and completely discounting my profession, I've still used a great deal more math than even I would have expected. Just the little things like figuring the mpg for gas or the cost per day/month/year of something.
What's the harm in learning something you'll never use against the problem of being unable, one day, to figure out a problem because you have absolutely no idea of how to?
My teacher told me not to do homework

I can do basic math, I think he meant I wont need geometry and algebra and the advanced types.
