  • Have you considered the possibility that he may be on the autistic spectrum? Children with ASDs (autistic spectrum disorders) are often precocious, and have intense interests in certain subjects. Foreign cultures and modes of transportation - including but not limited to automobiles - are very common subjects for people with ASDs to become fixated on, and such intense interests usually (but not always) last for prolonged periods of time.

    • I have looked into that because he is so interested in specific things...but his doctors ruled "no" because he doesn't fit any of the other symptoms, he is very social, reads expressions well and has a big sense of humor. But I did look into it because he is so fixated on these things.

      • Ah I see. Hmm I'm not really sure what else could be causing your son's strong fixations with the subjects you mentioned. Did his doctors express any concern over his fixations?
