My son's new girlfriend is causing him to drop out of college

He was supposed to graduate this Fall semester, but his report card just came in the mail and he failed almost all his classes. He always got As and Bs up to this point. It's too much of a coincidence that he met his first girlfriend in the summer and they started living together in September. I don't know what to do. He can retake the classes in Spring but they are extremely expensive. I don't want to "have a talk" with him... because honestly I think he should break up with her. She's a bad influence on him. How do I force him to concentrate on his classes?

Tell him to do amphetamines, they increase goal directed behavior.

If you have half a brain, you should know you can't "force" him to concentrate on his academic work.

Your son is legally an adult, and you can't force him to do anything. He's free to make his own decisions about what he does with his time and who he spends it with, and you're free to decide where you spend your money. If you think you're paying for college courses he's not interested in, then you'd have to be an idiot to keep on doing that.

I'm guessing this is the latest post by the "women are horrible and abuse my son" guy. Sounds way too fake to be an actual parent deciding that IIN was the best place for advice on their Honor student suddenly getting all Fs for their final semester. And if that was the case either she's sexy as FUCK and he's a virgin with a hard on for her 24/7, or yeah like rose said, he's on drugs.

it is not her that is a bad influence. he really could have studied harder, but it kills me when most of the time one mistake during one semester can ruin everything. it truly should not be that way. people can always learn more as time goes by. when it comes to schooling someone i know had to drop out because they failed one semester and lost their financial aid. also they would not have qualified for the teaching program. it is just wrong for that to be the case. i hope eventually it will all be revised.

School is stupid. College is just an indoctrination system. He's better off getting laid.
