My rib touches my hip bone

When I lift a side of my hip upward and keep my upper body the same, it feels like the bottom of my ribs are pushed against by my hip bone. When you do this, do you get the same thing? Maybe my upper body is just really short. When I feel the lowest rib I can, it's REALLY close to my hip.

    Scoliosis?

I have it and one side is easier to bend then the other. One hip is up higher and my body leans to the left. Have someone to trace your spine and see if it curves. Then, see a doctor and get a X-ray. Depending on the curvature, you may or may not have to get surgery. Anything over 40 degrees surgery will be needed. I think 20 and below is usually treated with a brace, but sometimes also surgery.

    Good Luck!

    Yes, this is normal.
I have the same issue, and after doing some research I have discovered that it's all body ratios. I have an extremely small torso compared to my legs, meaning that my ribs and hips are closer together. On the other hand, this is not a problem for my friend, who has a long torso and short legs. This might be the case for you.

My hips are the same way, I was told by the doctor that I have like the smallest case of scoliosis but it's not something that should affect anything, although it is really hard to come close to touching my toes.

Mine isn't touching the hip but it's inside of the hip when I bend to the side. it doesn't hurt but it makes it had to touch my toes cause my hip won't bend like everyone else instead I have to bend my back

I have the same problem and have wondered the same thing. I have no answers though sorry. There is hardly space between the end of my rib cage and my hip bone. If i bend too much they rub and hurt. I always wondered why in gym class it hurt for me to do certain things. I know why now. Just today I accidentally bent too far backwards and now my rib hurts. It's really annoying for me cuz I have no waist. The smallest part of my waist is actually my ribs. The space between my lowest rib and hip is the width of my thumb.

me mum has this issue and was told by her doc that that was the cause of her pain--the bottom of her rib was actually rubbing the top of her hip bone or some such thing. he told her not to sit upright but lean back when she sits so that gravity doesn't do its thing and make it worse.

It sounds as if you may have a skeletal condition. Is it painful?

There's a picture of it. The top circle is where the bottom of my rib is, and the bottom is my hip bone. It looks normal from the exterior, but I don't know.

    • It hurts a bit when I lift my hip up and it pushes on my rib. A dull ache.

    Maybe for a midget.

  • I think that's normal. Unless I'm not getting your question correctly.
