My period skips a day

Is it normal that my period skips a day? I have 2-4 heavy days and 1-2 light days after that and then my period stops. When I first had my period and it stopped because my period started in the summer and I didn't have any black shorts I couldn't wait to get out of the black pants so when I went to bed there was no blood and I woke up, no blood. So I switched to these white red and pink plade shorts they were my favorite pair and I went to school and I was bleeding after 2 hours of school and my shorts were recked. I didn't understand my period stopped. But now I know my period and every period I have it stops for a day and then it starts back up after a day or a half a day. My mom has this happen to her to. But is that just genetics, or is this normal?

Wow...Um, my period comes every other month, and you're worried about 1-2 days?...If you're a teen, that's totally normal. 1-2 days is no big deal.

That can happen, it has happened to me before but I don't think it is normal for it to happen all of the time. I knew this one girl who had to have surgery and was told that her periods were acting up because stuff was getting stuck (partly due to a cyst that she had). I would go to a gynecologist and ask about this or maybe just ask your normal doctor.

She's obviously not pregnant if she's having her period. ^

If your mother is the same, it's normal. Your body isn't sloughing the lining of your uterous very efficently. It is nothing to worry about, just watch your iron intake and make sure you get plenty when you are on your period. Also, plenty of exercise will help with circulation and move things around.

If you are concerned, you could try the herb Black Cohosh. It stimulates uterine contractions that will help the shedding process be more consistent. And it prevents cramps. Do not take if you are pregnant.
