They did a good job because you want to be independent and you are confident. Sure its normal. Try not to turn it into a big deal with them - like a confrontation or arguments. If you are going off on your own then that is what you are going to do and the main thing will be not to have a lot of bad feelings about it and to reassure them - lots.
