My parents own it.. they pay for it?

So I'm living at home with my parents. I'm 26 female, casual job (on parents' farm) not much money, no car to my name but parents have a car that i mostly (pretty much the only one) that drives it but it's under their name.. I plan on moving out soon and putting the car under my name.. but at the moment it's under theirs.. now my dad is (more or less) saying that I pay for the tyres that were put on it 3 so month ago... so should I be the one paying for it or should they be paying for it??

Fyi.. I've been driving the car since 2010 I think, paid for the services ever since I've had it and only moved back with them August last year...

You pay 13
Parents pay 3

You are 26 years old. Quit poncing off your parents & pay your own way.

If you haven't got the money, find a full time job. That way you can buy your own car thus solving your dilemma.

Ok so firstly yes I am 26 but who said anything bout me ever being able to lay for the car I drive so I essentially having to "ponce off my parents" I'm sure I'm not the only one that's done so..

And secondly I HAVE TRIED TO FIND A FULL TIME JOB!!! But it's not as easy as you think.. specially for where I've lived and with the jobs I'm not qualified for (engineer/electrician/whatever)

Try to apply at Wal-Mart, I'm sure you would fit nicely over there!

If you plan on putting the car in your name + moving out you should pay for it. Untill then, no

I guess better communication should have been made... as in if youre the only one driving it but they are paying for it, then you should pay for service and matinance or vice verca...

I pay for my car (and matinance) but my parents pay for insurance and the tires.

Are you that same lady who had to move back in with her parents and afraid to tell them you have a boyfriend, etc? If so, hey! Hope that all worked out.

Anyway, I get it. You're trying to save to move out, and tires can be expensive. However, you're the one who has been using the car the most and wearing the tires down, so it's only fair that you pay for it.

Yea most likely lol and that's the reason I ask (I was more asking as unsure at the time)

I do get what everyone is say f since I'm primary user of the car.. since everyone seems to agree I should be the one to pay (and I've resided to the fact that I should be paying) I will work something out lol

This is a hard situation. We're you still the primary driver 3 months ago when the tires were put on?
If you were, and still plan on writing the car in your name, I would just pay them back in increments over time. Better not to let them keep that over your head.
However if it wasn't being used as much or was just being used by your parents, I don't think you have any reason to pay up. At that point they were doing something they would've done anyways, instead of doing something to benefit you directly. Good luck!
