That's a very young minded perspective you have there. Is there a certain, entitled quality of life every parent must give their child? Is 'acting grateful' a better phrase?
Not wanting their daughter in a relationship isn't exactly selfish. We don't know how reasonable they are being because OP hasn't given us the reasons her parents have.
My point is that since she is dependent on them, she should respect their wishes.
The parents owe the child. They brought the child into the world so they have a duty to provide for that child til they are an adult. I do agree with you on listening cause most the time it's for the child's own good. But to say providing a roof and other stuff like that means the child owes them I don't agree. The parents owe the child all of that.
After college and when you have to make it out on your own, this entitlement you feel should fade. You'll realize just how much your folks did for you and it sure wasn't because they owed it to you.
My parents have gone physco because my boyfriend is 21

She's not in debt to her parents. They decided to have her, she didn't choose to be born.

It's not about entitlement but the fact remains that parents have children for selfish reasons and kids don't owe them for that.
