My mother always checks my meal plan. is this normal?

I am in college on a meal plan. My mother checks my meal plan all the time. I sometimes skip meals if I get caught up in work, got something else to eat, or if I simply am not hungry. However if my mom sees that I skipped a meal, she always assumes the worst and sends out a text saying that I haven't eaten. Sometimes, I'll go get a meal just so I don't get one of these texts. Is it normal for my mom to be checking my meal plan on a regular basis?

    If she is paying for it yeah. Those meals are hella expensive. I want to say $1500 A month. I may be wrong but not far off. Be grateful because many of us live on top ramen.

    Have you had issues with food in the past?

    If not, then maybe she's just having problems detaching from you and is still trying to be Mommy, even though she's far away. It does sound a little clingy, really.

    Pay for your own meals.

    It sounds a bit clingy, but, I agree with the first reply. Meal plans aren't cheap, and the paying party wants to know they're being used. My niece 's first semester of college, my sister paid for the meal plan, and my niece used it. Maybe three times. She'd go to the just off-campus fast food places, order pizza, or get packaged crap from wal-mart, to the point where, for her second semester, my sister said no, I'm not paying for it b/c you don't use it.

    In my own case in college, I had it and used it every day, usually for all 3 meals. Sometimes just coffee and muffin or bagel in the morning, but I used it all the time.

    Mom's just looking out for you at school.
