My mom caused me to start drinking again

I’m a very lonely person. The worst time of day is between 4pm and bedtime. That’s when I usually drink. I stopped a while ago and started visiting my dad regularly, watching TV with him every night. Unfortunately, there was always the risk of my stupid, manipulative mom saying something shitty to me to fuck up my self-esteem. It happened, I stopped visiting my dad and started drinking again. Is it normal for a toxic person in your life to be responsible for your alcoholism or other addiction?

Your mother emotionally triggered you, but you chose to start drinking again.

Instead of drinking, do things that will prove her wrong and will make your dad proud.

It's your choice to involve her and have drink.

My mother drove me to drink, mainly best bitter, and I never thanked her properly!

You need to replace the drink with something positive in your life. You already proved you can do this when you stopped drinking and started spending time with your dad. Unfortunately that put you to close to someone else who is clearly a trigger to set you off drinking again. Try to find a hobby or interest that can replace the boredom of loneliness that you clearly feel in the late afternoon and evening

She's is not responsible per se but I totally understand where you're coming from. Some relationships and emotions are so hard to deal with that they (the relationships and the emotions, not the actual people) might incite it. It's up to you to decide how you're going to handle it. I have tons of culprits for my bad behaviors but ultimately it's my own decision.
