My life seems so boring!

Lately, my life has seemed so boring. I read about all these people that get to do amazing things everyday, and all I do is sit at home. I don't really have any friends. I don't even have like an hobbies or anything that I'm really passionate about, and it seems like i don't even know myself. It this normal? Does anyone else ever feel this way?

  • It could be worse it could be that you see these people doing "amazing things" and see all these "amazing things" as boring.

  • Do something interesting. Go up to someone randomly and say, "Hitler is God. Jesus is not. This is my truth and mine alone"

Guaranteed to get a response ;)

For each person, there are points in life when they feel bored, that they don't know themselves, or that they think they are not good at anything. In your situation, it is difficult because you are experiencing all three at the same time (which is still normal). Its hard, but my advice would be to take some time (like a month or year or years) to think about what you enjoy in life. This will help you to discover what you should spend your time doing. This will then help you become passionate about things and less bored. Also, finding yourself is another difficulty. It seems that in most cases people begin to find themselves when transitioning from being a teen to being an adult. If you want to find yourself, then I would recommend that you try some new things, ponder what sort of things you enjoy or believe are good, and develop your beliefs and self by asking yourself lots of constructive questions. As another note, in my opinion, it is much greater and more satisfying to develop an understanding of ones self and to be passionate about the decisions they make and actions they perform than to be recognized for an achievment by society or to daily do "amazing things".

Dont read about "amazing things" or else your expectations will be set too high.
    You have potential.
Its just because of all these rich greedy famous people do all these great things and you want to do things just as good as them.

According to the Myers Psychology textbook, this is a psychological term called "Relative Deprivation" where we perceive that we are worse off after comparing ourselves(or our lives) with other people. We decide on what we deserve or what we should expect by looking at other people and comparing. It is completely normal and everyone does it :)

Yes, but I'm proud of a mundane life, I was always used to it. I was living in the real world. If you find life boring, I suggest you try the movie 'Man On The Moon', while most of the characters are mundane and boring people, Andy Kaufman (Jim Carrey) is child-like and colourful, he's pure magic, and surprises normal people, then you'll realise that maybe you yoursef is as boring as everyone else.

My life used to be filled with drama and excitement. Since I've moved from the excitement I am much happier. People may consider my life boring but I love it the way it is. :)

Well, certainly choosing to do nothing leads to boredom alright.
