People shouldn't get married because we are not monogamous by nature. Marriage was made to constrain people. Especially men. Most species are naturally wired to seek different partners during their lifetime. It's the natural way to create diversity.
I believe the institution of marriage was created for the raising of the children, not to "constrain people".
Someone to provide for the family and someone to raise the children before schools were set up to become the institutional "babysitters" they are today.
Perhaps in today's world marriage is not of the same value it was, but many, myself included, feel that it is the break up of the family unit and the two wage earner parents, that has contributed the most to our problems with drugs, gangs and street violence in America.
Wouldn't most of you accept monogamy if it meant a return to a safer way of life?
Of course, it makes absolutely no sense, to me, for anyone to marry before they have had numerous partners, and not just marry someone because they are the first person who'll have sex with them.
We will not talk about this any further, our beliefs will clash, I am Christian, you are obviously not. I am not ridiculing you and your beliefs, I respect them. There are animals who stay with one partner for the rest of their life span. If you have desires and lusts which you fail to control. We all don't have the same "problems" . Marriage is something beautiful. Polygamy takes the beauty out of it!, your statement is an excuse for barbaric human practises.
Penguins are not 100% monogamous. There is actually penguin prostitution. The black vulture is monogamous and if a mate is caught cheating it will be attacked.
Commitment is also biologically feasible. We want a partner all to ourselves because we want to produce offspring with them. We want to foster our genes, because we instinctively have an urge to protect our own genes. Hence, you will see people sacrificing their lives more often to their relatives (and rarely to complete strangers), since they share many genes with you.
If your wife had an affair in the past, she would probably become pregnant and you would need to take care of the child.
You would be taking care of someone who doesn't have your genes. Hence, you get no Darwinian fitness benefit, but you are given the burden of raising a child.
My heart is sad

Ignore him my Knight, he knows not of what he speaks. He is a fool!
I think some people are monogamous naturally. Penquins and elephants have life partners, as well as many other species.

That's not true, On the Discovery Channel, I saw the male elephant mate with different females, within his harem. And that's what the narrator said.
Penguins are not 100% monogamous. There is actually penguin prostitution. The black vulture is monogamous and if a mate is caught cheating it will be attacked.
Marriage was designed for security reasons.
