She did that cause i told her i am an atheist. i am 19 and i have been an atheist since i was 12. I never told because i was afraid my mother would shun me but now i realize that if they dnt like me for me than screw them :D I just wanna noe if its normal for a granny to tell that to her grandchild.(of course you should noe i told her that shell go to hell w/ me & then she slapped me and i left before i did someting i would regret) ---MizsP.

    Is it fair to assume you're American? This wouldn't be very normal in the UK, but then Christianity isn't as predominant here. If it's a cultural thing then it's hard to blame the individual.

    Haha I'm 21 and I still haven't told my catholic grandfather I'm an atheist... But you should forgive your grandma anyways- she was sheltered and has been told god is the way her whole life and she can't see past it--- and beyond that your grandma is probably going to hell for being such an upright and model worshiper of god...(sarcasm(on many levels))

    my grandparents know im an atheist, they accept it, but i cant make atheist coments at home, because there is always family... and all my family are catholic...

    well, I think your grandma is conservative, dont blame her, she grew up in a home full of christianity, a school that teached christianity, a society full of christians and christian practices... So, just ignore her and dont coment her ways...

    If she said it once, laugh it off...old people have earned the right to say whatever they want to whomever they want (this is what my mother and my grandmother tell me...LMAO)....if she continues to insult you then you need to find a way to change the conversation (because arguing with an old person is useless and a complete waste of time), or avoid the topic with her and be yourself around others who will respect your views....
