Perfectly normal, if she's a teenager. Many of them thrive on drama (Sure, a lot of adults do too, but not the same way). Being reassured feels good and they will seek it out - if necessary, by letting some Crazy show. And they may not even know it's crazy because they saw so-and-so do it in a movie and her boyfriend was totally hot/she had a perfect life/what-have-you. The game you observed also serves to keep an air of mystery about her - keep you interested, if she thought you might have been getting bored. Or if she were getting bored.
It IS a red flag, though, unless you like drama and constantly having to reassure someone that you love her and are there for her, etc. - in that case, you got it made!
