This must really suck. Irritable bowl syndrome creates diarrhea, constipation, gas and bloating. Which if its happening on a constant bases and alternating between the four its going to cause you a lot of discomfort. I have had similar issues in the past.
You can try and help the issue some by changing your diet. Try eating more fiber and see if this helps you some. However I am not sure if your getting more constipation or more diarrhea. If its gas try drinking carbonated drinks and stay away from beans(yes they are great fiber and great protein but they will give you really bad gas), if its constipation try fiber and drink plenty of water.
If you are getting constant diarrhea they have stool hardeners you can take. I also know Cheese does not help with constipation so if that is your issue don't eat cheese. Another good fiber is Bananas and a salad should help too.
A lot of salt can create bloating and constipation. I also read that garlic and chilly helps you go to the bathroom. Anything spicy really will help digestion if you cant go.
Also even if you hate fruit and vegetables try to eat them anyways. It will really help you.
