I did that once, but thats because my close friend graeme came to visit me when i was in college, and i had a real shity bachelor apartment with absolutely no where else to sleep. And to me, that is the only context I can see this as being normal, when there are no other options. I am also a little confused about your age difference. You seem to be 10 years older than this fellow, yet you say that you have been friends for as long as you can remember. So when you were 23, and he was 13, did you too sleep in the same bed? That is most definitely not normal.
