  • Actually, your friend is the type of person who has made mental illness and learning disabilities a joke. It's easier for you to anger than most people? "YOU'RE BIPOLAR!" You don't like to socialize as much as your peers? "YOU'RE AUTISTIC!" You get bored easily? "YOU HAVE ADHD!" You're organized? "YOU HAVE OCD!" These are actual conditions, and yet people are turning them into labels that simply define what people consider quirks. Lots of people are being over-diagnosed or misdiagnosed with things they don't have. These types of attitudes aren't helping anyone and are instead making mental disorders less serious than they are.

If anything, your friend sounds highly close minded. So what, you have a broad range of tastes and interests. I think that's neat. I know people who like metal music and classical music. Are they scizophrenic for liking different things? It's not that weird to be into both gore and cute things, and it is certainly not strange to be interested in gore. Why do you think Edgar Allan Poe is considered a classic? Lots of people like the macabre. There's nothing wrong with that at all. Liking blood or gore does not classify anyone as being mentally ill.
