Thanks to this website and some off-colour comments by an acquaintance regarding the union betwixt me and The One Who Can Do No Wrong, I’ve found out and pretty much come to terms with the fact I'm the same way as you occasionally, but I’d never tell anyone unless I needed to.
I'm wondering if you told this so-called friend of yours. It's a good idea to be careful what you say, whether it's to her or not – you may change your mind, and people don't forget what you've said –- it often does more harm than good.
A dear friend of mine, sadly no longer with us, once said “never write anything down that you might regret........ open mouth, insert foot.” That could apply to telling people things too, I suppose.
