My fountain pen ink cartridge won't puncture?

I got this calligraphy starter set the other day, and I was really excited to start using it. The manual that came with it had absolutely no instructions on how to set up the pen, so I tried to figure it out on my own. I'm pretty sure I was doing it right. I even looked up how to insert the cartridge, and I was indeed doing it correctly. But no matter how hard I try, even putting my whole strength into it, the cartridge just won't puncture.
Am I doing something wrong? Or am I just too weak? Please let me know in the comments! :) Have a wonderful day. <3

Take it back, could be the pen itself.

Just buy a new cartridge. Ir you got a lemon. I've owned many calligraphy pens some from dollar stores and they always worked great. Pro tip dont split the tip of your pen it's bad for it

Go back to the store with your receipt, and get a refund, or exchange.

You know you have to screw it in with the other end of the pen right?

    • Not all pens do that. That is only a specific type or brand. Mine doesn't do that.
