5 year olds are very explorative, he's at the stage where everything interests him! He'll be curious also to whether anyone else has the same as he has downstairs and this is proven! Sigmund Freud - Stages of Learning or something along them lines! He has studies showing the different ages of a child and their learning interests :) look it up I'd advise you too, you might learn a lot about your childs mind and how it may be working :)
