It's not wrong to tell the truth, but as you've discovered sometimes the consequences of doing so aren't pleasant. I've also often found myself in the position of stating truths other people don't want to hear and have copped shit for it too. Not a new problem: check out Cassandra in Greek mythology, who was condemned by some god or other to always tell the truth but never to be believed!
I commend you for being so dedicated to the truth when your parents are both so dishonest and such bad role models.
