My family and our mean jokes

me and my family are always making jokes about things like babies, death, and other things u really shouldnt make jokes about. my sister chrissy was making fun of that thing priests say, something about this is my body or blood or something. but when other people here us make jokes at restraunts and public places they look like they're disgusted that we would say those kinds of things. it makes me to scared to tell jokes to my friends cuz they would probably get mad at me.

dont get mad but we also made fun of how micheal jackson and billy mays died. i made this joke: Man, now who am i gonna say people look like now that micheal j is dead?

we even make fun eachother when we get hurt or sent to the hospital, like my sister when she passed out, hit the table, then fell and hit her head on the floor. and how she cried when she was wearing a neckbrace cuz she didnt want a i.v.

I think it is normal to do that within your familial or social circle. Also, I think it is normal to make jokes about uncomfortable things in general, as many people deal with such subjects through humor. That is normal.

I don't think it is as normal or a good idea to do these things in public. That makes strangers uncomfortable because they don't know you/know you're "safe," so to speak. I taught my son when he was young not to discuss sex, religion, or politics when on the bus, or in general, in public, because they are upsetting subjects to some people and it's just not polite. In comparison to that, imagine this: my mother and I went around joking, "It's a tuma" when my father got a brain tumor (it was non-malignant and he is just fine now.)

Normal. Plus weve all had our michael jokes. The priest joke reminded me of the preist and my grandfathers funeral. First we lost our priest, then the next day there was no wine for communion... He sat in the corner and drank all of it. Funny right?
