    I wouldn’t call that normal.

I mean it depends. Since that is family its possible that they have a weirdly close relationship. Also you said he rubs her back. This sounds like something a parent would do for their kid. There also been cases where kids are not given boundary's when young. So they continue being needy into adulthood.

It's possible this is OK. Some people do in fact remain just causal friends and enjoy physical contact.

It's also possible that there is more going on and that at least 1 of them (if not both of them) desire more and are just slowly working towards that.

      BUT THEYRE RELATED. BY BLOOD.

You should never work towards more with blood relative

It sounds like he’s grooming her to molest her.

This is normal. I do this with my niece who is 12 and I don't see why it should have to change when she's 17. She will always be my niece

But u literally call anyone who makes u uncomfortable a troll. Like every other comment is "I feel like chasin u back under a bridge with a pitch fork!!!"

I guess its ur survival mechanism

Trolls exist but the vast majority of the time u can see u just can't handle the realities of this place

We live in a generation where any adult showing affection towards a teenager or kid, and the sirens go off. Half warranted, and half sad. It's hard to not jump the gun on deciding whether this is normal or not without context

Ask yourself some questions: Is your ex partner a questionable person? Do they have a good/close relation? How did you find out? Does he do it openly in front of others? Does the niece seem uncomfortable with it?

She has moved down away from her parents for apparently causing too much trouble . But it’s weird because she’s the one that also goes in he’s room . And they also laugh and wrestle together in there . Or if she’s upset he lays there rubbing her back wtf?

Something to consider: What is the age of consent in your state or country. In the USA approximately 40 states its 17 or younger.

Even if it progresses - she may be legally entitled to make that choice.

For now though it is possible that its just non-sexual fun. I used to have such a relationship with a niece... up to a certain point (where she expressed interest in learning about sex with me at an age below the age of consent). That ended it.

I'm not sure what I would have done if she was at or older than the age of consent. I could have been possible... after some consideration (I have always been highly selective). It clearly would not have been acted on quickly.

Listen to your intuition, this is not normal. Are her parents aware?
