Make sure your poodle is getting enough exercise. Poodles love retrieving and are highly intelligent but are very territorial as well. It most likely believes it is alpha to you so you need to train it properly. If not it will be a nightmare.

Start your training with fetch play and start reading about them. Agility classes and socialization are a must.

It's unfair for your poodle to allow it to growl. It's going to become increasingly nervous, aggressive and eventually neurotic unless you establish dominance and keep it's mind intrigued.

It sounds like you never trained your dog, aggression is a common side effect of poor training, also, has it gotten all required shots and vet checks?

Have the dog checked out by a vet and if nothing shows up you should get some expert professional help from a dog trainer
