My dad's name isn't on my birth certificate

So I'm 24 but only just got a copy of my birth certificate today ..
And my dad's name isn't on there, there's just a blank space ..
My mum died a couple of years ago and I'm not close to my dad so there's not really a way of finding out why ..
They split when I was a baby but I still saw him pretty often ..
Are there any common reasons for not putting his name on it orrrrr .....

    Either they weren't married or he didn't sign it.

    Contrary to what many people think, you can't just 'put' a guy's name on a birth certificate unless he's married to the mother or if he signs off on it himself.

    Yep, the dad's name is totally optional. A friend of mine only has her mom on hers because her dad was in jail. Her mom was mad so she didn't put it on there. They had been married for years. Her older and younger brothers have both names.

    welfare mommies are almost always forced to give up the daddys name and then the state can sue him for child support. looks like either mother had no clue who daddy was or she was protecting his ass from jail or financial ruin. you are 24 you won't get a dime but the state can go after his life and practically murder him including jail they want all that mommie money back.

      Also, I'm from the UK things seem to work differently over here xD

        The US is messed up. The government seems to think our money is theirs. It's pretty messed up considering it was founded on overtaxation.

    The only reasons I can think of are that either your dad is denying paternity or your mother didn't know who the father was.

    Neither is mine me and my Sisters don't know who our Daddys are My Mommy has had so many dicks in her mouth and in her Pussy she don't know where to begin at trying to take a guess at who any of our Daddys are
