while you are at home, you do need to follow your parents rules, regardless of your age.
your dad is following his beliefs (the church and stuff) and using it to guide his children down what he thinks is the proper path. he can only show you what he thinks is best while you are young.
once you are old enough to take care of yourself, then you can do whatever you want.
i don't know how old you are, but, i wouldn't bother to pick a battle with a parent over something that is years away and is only an idea.
