My dad calls the police every other day for no reason

At least 400 times over the last couple of years ..

Somebody gives him a funny look, police. He thinks somebody calls him a dickhead through their (closed) front door, police. Somebody sticks their fingers up at him, you get the idea.

He's obsessed with his neighbors, thinking they're deliberately trying to provoke him (maybe they are idk). He calls the police on them all. the. time. Recently he's been getting in fights and has told me that next time he might kill them.

I assume he hasn't been arrested for clogging up emergency lines because they think he's mental.

    I dated a woman like that. Any perceived problem, and she called the police. Kids walking down the alley behind her house? Called the police. Mailman supposedly gave her a look..Called the police. Didn't like the look of a couple looking at the rental on the other side of her house? Called the police.

    Even I wasn't immune. A good 2 months after we broke up, I was laying on my couch one night, a random, mid-week evening, and got a call from the local police. They were at least nice about it, and understood where it was coming from..All they asked was if I knew her, and if I'd had any contact with her. Told them no, and that I was "all kinds and way done with her" for at least 2 months. They said, keep it that way, for your and our benefit. Guessing they were tired of hearing from her, too.

    i will just say, do not NOT believe him completely. don't write him off and just think he's a crazy paranoid geezer. you will be guilty when, God forbid, something bad actually happens. be vigilant and don't ignore his fears and complaints

    You should go get drunk with him. There is a user at IIN that is exactly like your Dad. Almost everybody has banned her.

    He has a mental illness and needs treatment, but how you convince him of that I don't know, unless he starts attacking the people he's having delusions about.

    It must be very hard to live with! My dad was a bit like that when he got old and wouldn't sit on the front porch because he thought the dogs being walked past the house were radio controlled!

    He does the same thing .. he has piles and piles of printed out emails and letters from random people that show he's being harassed and whatever.
