My cousin takes his machete everywhere. iin?

When he's in his apartment, he keeps it close to his bed. When he's at work or anywhere else, it's in his car.

It's come in handy a few times.
When my family had neighbors that were harassing them, he threatened them with it and they stopped.

When a customer at my job wouldn't stop bothering me, memorized my work hours, and left stupid notes on my car he threatened her with the machete and she backed off.

Is it normal he always keeps it close?

Now I'm trying to imagine a Ricky Martin looking guy who carries a machete with him everywhere he goes.

Probably. We don't live in a safe area. XD

Does he do this to look more intimidating?

Not to mention the police could stop him because they would think he's trying to murder someone.

He has it because our neighborhood isn't really safe.

I don’t think it is normal for an average person, however I’m guessing your cousin’s (maybe traumatic) experiences in the past led them to feel the need to carry a weapon everywhere.

Not normal to do this. But I do get what it's like to live somewhere that you don't feel safe.

I've lived in my nice, safe house here for years now, and I still get paranoid about noises in the night. Once you've lived in fear like that, you never quite shake off that feeling that something could happen. It makes you do stupid stuff sometimes.

Is there jungle he has to get through? If not he is likely a murderer, halloween is over.

Well, it’s a great weapon to have, easy to conceal in your pant leg and every home improvement store carries them.

I think always having it is ok. But threatening people with it is a little extra.

Yeah, that crosses a legal line in civilised places.

He only does it when he has to which is very rare. I'm kind of happy he intimidated that stalker customer with it. Her behavior was creepy. XD

I used to date a guy who did that. He took some kind of weapon everywhere, even in places where they were banned. I watched him catch a deer and skin it alive once but he was too much of a pussy to actually kill someone with it so he wasn’t really a threat.

I'm sorry skin it alive? You just let some piece of shit torture an animal like that? I hope you get your wish on your deranged throat fantasy.

He hit it with his car and it had a broken leg so he got out to kill it rather than just leaving it to die in the road. But thanks anyway for wishing my literal dream come true on me.

...by skinning it alive rather than slitting its throat? Did he at least rip its eyeballs out and set it on fire?

We had just started dating and he was trying to impress me by making himself look like a tough guy.

Maybe because he either knew the popo would get him arrested if he killed someone.
