My company didn’t fully pay me for the hours i worked

I work a part time job and I make $9.30/hr. I wasn’t “in the system” for a while so I relied on screenshots of schedules sent to me by my boss. When I was finally put in the system I could use the register to clock in and out. After I received my check for the first time I was shocked by how little it was. I live in PA. I can’t find a user friendly calculator online, so if someone that is good at math can help me out I’d really appreciate it. I just need to know much I should’ve received after taxes. All my hours are listed below.

10:00-7:00
11:00-6:00
10:30- 6:00
11:00-7:00
11:00-6:30

  • If you can't work this out on your own, you should quit your job and move back in with your parents. Every adult who works for a living needs a basic understanding of math, enough not to be taken advantage of.

  • Jesus. Are you saying that you can't do math without a calculator? You should look into taking some night school classes. What kind of job do you have?

  • Hour lunch break everyday when you work 9 hours right?

    • We take 30 minute breaks. I’ve only taken a few breaks since I’ve worked there, maybe 4-5 times.

      • How much was the check? It should say pre tax on tbere too. You should have made $660 and id say taxes on that would be around $150 but im not sure. If its over $500 id say its right. But its probably less than that if they took that 30 minute break out

        • I just looked on my phone and it turns out those aren’t even all the times. This is completely irresponsible management. I only received $372 for all the times listed above and more as it turns out. I really appreciate you taking the time to do the math. What actions can I take to ensure that I get the money I’m entitled to? Would I need a lawyer? I have all the schedules on record.

          • Ive dealt with this issue alot. UPS is notorious for shorting peoples hours. My local hub has a lawsuit right now for not paying managers right. Fortunately for me I'm union so I just tell my union and they write my a check rigjt then for the hours I claim.

Idk what to do in your situation, but I'd definitely sit down with your manager and tell them that you ALWAYS keep up with your time and have them explain to you why its short. Explain that you have to get this fixed immediately. Also on your check stub it should tell you how much your gross is, thats before tax.

Do not get it twisted they're likely doing it on purpose. They may try to play victim and turn it on you.
