My family has had many, many cats over the years but none of them have ever done that (that I know of)Some cats do love to headbutt things, but I'd be more concerned about the grass-eating. Have you talked to a vet?
Probably the reason it likes fries is because of the salt. A lot of animals love salt. We've had a few cats that would beg for chips just to lick the salt off.
Do you maybe treat your lawn with anything special that could be attracting your cat? Or is there maybe catnip growing on your lawn that you're mistaking for grass? In any case, you should talk to a vet. They'll know what's best.
Been around cats all my life.....head butt is just a poke to say ....."hey ,pay attention to me,I need some grooming ,a little here and there." in addition to that,it makes you part of the pride. It induces grooming and bonding w/in the pride. When they do that, pet them.....they will look at you and know that you're not as dumb as you look.
