Of course it's normal for someone to try to make a positive impression on the family of their boyfriend or girlfriend. Once a relationship gets serious enough to reach the meet-the-family stage, you're encountering people who are probably a very important part your boy/girlfriend's life, and maybe even people you're going to have to deal with for many years to come.
If it is serious, and your family are all such wonderful cooks, maybe you could invite her to join you when you're cooking and drop some tactful hints about why you do things the way you do them, rather than what she does.
